Today we had Orientation for all the international students. I am definately on information overload! It was nice to get all the information finally. Tomorrow we'll go to information sessions on the classes that we're thinking about taking and then on Monday we'll start going to our "trial" classes. It'll be interesting to see if the classes I looked at will work. I hope that they are not at the same time, since they were pre-approved by the registrar!
I also found out about getting involved on campus at NUIG today. Let's just say, I really want to do a lot of stuff.. They have something called SOC day coming up which will be nice where all the societies will have information and we can see what we want to do. I'm thinking about possibly doing choir or being involved in the International Student Society. There are also a lot of opportunities to volunteer that I thought could be pretty fun as well. The student life seems like it will be kind of like Concordia with lots to do and a lot of people getting involved. We'll see what comes about with all this stuff. I'm going to figure out my classes first and go from there!
After orientation we walked into the city centre to get a few things. I bought a new rain jacket because I'm getting sick of carrying my umbrella all the time! The weather here is very different throughout the day. It'll be rainy, sunny, rainy and sunny at the same time all in one day. We decided to take the bus home because we were just pooped!
Tonight there is karaoke on campus that a bunch of people from the village I live in are going to. It should be a good time!

Hi Erica!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all your experiences in my "home country". My family came to the US from Kilkenny Ireland. I have no idea if it is any where near where you are, but maybe you can do some geography while you are there and see. Love you lots! Aunt Julie
Hi Erika,
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your time in my "Home Country". My family originates from Kilkenny, Ireland. The Daniel Bryan family. They changed the name to O'Brien when they came to the U.S.A. I don't know if it is near where you are, but it will give you something to look up in the geography books! Sounds like your staying busy. Take everything you can from this experience. Love you! Aunt Julie
I hope that you brought some American legends to the karaoke event and sang a little Journey, or at least maybe kept it a bit more relevant to them and sang Spice Girls!?!
